Did you ever just want to jump ship so badly and do your own thing? Well that is what I did in 2014! I jumped off the corporate bandwagon. Now there was a plan in place, but you know how that goes…
The plan was to start a creative business with its center point being custom upholstery. There would be an amazing blog to support it. And of course, being a creative type, I would sprinkle in some painted furniture and other lovely homey things.
Well that didn’t happen! But not in a bad way, see my life took a wonderful detour. My sister (Known in blog world as Sister) and I decided to be roommates. We would sell both of our homes and buy one together. I would move from Atlanta to Nashville. And I would gain a whole new family life. See I haven’t lived in the same city as family in decades, so being in close proximity to family is a whole new world for me. Of course we took the long route.
- We staged and sold Sister’s house
- Bought an old fixer upper ranch
- Moved Sister in to the old fixer upper ranch
- Staged and sold my house in Atlanta
- Moved to Nashville
- Renovated said old fixer upper ranch house
Unfortunately along the way my old blog died, so I started a new blog, built from scratch. Which brings me back to square one…
Starting a creative business
Things will be a little different this time around. I will blog about more than just upholstery. So you are gonna see food and drinks, family and dogs and kids too! There will digging in the dirt, and then we will get some creative junk going!
Furniture painting and maybe building some furniture too;
I have fallen in love with some of the new stencil designs so expect to see some stencil projects.
Have you heard of Shibori, tie dyeing with blue indigo dye, can’t wait to try that.
And of course Upholstery!
I love me some upholstery. Stripping a chair feeds my soul, really! The more nails and staples the better! And don’t get me started on textiles. And when a chair is stripped and restrung, stuffed, padded and upholstered, I am one proud mama!
So here is where you come in, do you need that family heirloom reupholstered? How about that curb side treasure! I can help you with both.
And if you ever wanted to try it yourself, I can teach you! Seriously, give me a shout! I’d love to help. My she shop is kind of small so classes will have to be limited, but that means more focused instruction!
You can sign up to get blog updates delivered right to your inbox and I’d love for you to follow me on social media! I am so glad you stopped by. Check out some of my projects while your here!
