A Cinderella Story becomes a Chanel Chair

Here’s a sweet little slipper chair that grew up to become to a Chanel Chair.

I have no idea what this chair might have looked like when it started out in life, but by the time I got my hands on it, it was pretty interesting, to say the least.

I call this the Cinderella Phase. Haha! If you can’t tell by the picture, the original fabric on this chair was painted. Then some flowers were randomly painted on it with something like puff paint.

Cinderella Becomes Chanel

I imagine a mother and daughter DIY-ing this project for the little girl’s room. How fun, that this little girl got to create her very own chair and add her special touch with the hand painted flowers!! A design diva in the making! Suddenly, this ‘interesting’ chair just got a little more magical, just by imagining it’s backstory!

Now it’s my turn. I envisioned a very soft feminine chair. I knew the slipper chair design and the soft pink plaid fabric would transform this little girl chair into a grown up lady.

I painted the frame with Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint then added a topcoat of Artisan Enhancements Pearl Plaster. The Pearl Plaster gives the creamy white paint a lustrous finish, a perfect pairing with the fabric. Even the trim has a bit of a satiny sheen.

The fabric reminds me of a cute Chanel suit. Very feminine. Placing the seat fabric on the diagonal adds a little asymmetry to the chair just to add some intrigue. After all, the most sophisticated ladies are always intriguing.

And a pretty lady always has gorgeous legs.

Now the Cinderella chair is all grown up into a sophisticated lady in a gorgeous pink Chanel suit. She would be perfect in a girly room all soft and sweet. Can you picture this lady in your life?

  1. Cinderella is not only beautiful, she is also elegant! Reminds me of Nancy Reagan. I love the transformation. And I wish I lived close enough that you could teach me to upholster.
